Hello!
Since I upgraded to Windows 10, my laptop has started acting very weird and I can't find a solution, also other manufacturers like NVidia weren't showing any enthusiasm to help, so I decided to try my luck here.
Here is what happened:
I upgraded to Win10 around 30th of July, and it got stuck at installation couple of times (would sit at certain percentage for at least half n hour), but after that, it finished.
Later, when Windows installed, I was stuck around half an hour on welcome screen, but I figured, hey, it's first time run, it surely needs more time.
After installation, I couldn't work in python anymore as it crashed whenever I tried to run apps that ran on 8.1 without any issues, and generally, Windows was simply put...slow.
That's why I decided to reset Windows, and after installation (which was about ten times faster than previous one) it seemed to work very well, however after installing graphics drivers, I noticed every couple of minutes, everything froze for a mere second, sometimes even sounds froze.
I'd think it's because my laptop is too slow to run the game, but we're talking about Worms Armageddon (1999) here, game that ran on all PCs and laptops I've ever had.
Also, I've had wireless driver problem as well, as the connection simply hangs every couple of hours, and it just happens to happen whenever I'm doing something very important, or when I'm playing a game that doesn't support reconnecting (like worms or warcraft 3).
My friend told me he was chatting with Microsoft support as he had some similar problems and they told him he can download an iso of a stable windows installation, as first wave of upgrades had many bugs because Microsoft servers were overwhelmed from all the downloading.
So, to put it very short, I have two major problems:
1. Graphics lag/stuttering, in older games, could not make it work after many tried, digging around Nvidia CP etc., of course, Nvidia sold and they don't care about me, I had to wait one hour to get connected to someone who didn't even completely read the problem I had, after I gave him detailed description of my problem, he asked me a question which he would get answer for if he read what I wrote to him.
2. Wireless sometimes hangs with yellow exclamation mark, or with no errors what so ever, but still, it only start working after I disconnect and then reconnect... (in 8.1 the problems were severe, I was counting on Windows 10 to fix it so I was patient then, also, signal strength is excellent)
My laptop is Acer V3 572G:
CPU: Intel i7 4510U
GPU: Intel HD graphics 4400/Nvidia Geforce 840M
Wireless adapter: Broadcom 802.11n Network adapter
RAM: 8GB
About Nvidia, people mostly said they're having same problems as I am, but they got lucky as they could roll back to drivers that worked on 8.1, but since I'm on windows 10, I just can't... Nvidia obviously isn't planning on fixing the problem as they have to worry on advertising their new products, after all, loyal customers bring no money after the already bought what they needed, right?
I love Windows 10 and I don't want to roll back to 8.1 (I hate 8.1 to be exact), so please, could anyone provide me with any better solution?
P.S. Would maybe downloading win10 again and flashing it to an USB stick help? In that case, do I have to find my Windows key, or is it going to stay somewhere else (I read somewhere new laptop models keep windows key stored, so on every installation, it's simply entered without me asking anything)
