How often should I replace the battery in my lock?
The battery should be replaced once a year with a 9v Duracell Alkaline battery. We suggest replacing the battery on a memorable day like on the 4th of July and replace fire alarm batteries as well.

If possible, change the batteries with the door open. The lock and handle has a battery tray on the interior handle. Remove the 4 bolts holding the protective bracket. Make sure to follow the positive and negative markings. Replace the battery cover and the protective bracket. Test the lock.

  1. Enter 22* and the current password or default password (123456) followed by the # sign.

    You will hear 3 beeps. Passwords must be 6 characters long.
  3. Enter the new password again followed by the # sign.
    You will hear 3 beeps.
The new code should be tested at least 3 times with the door open to ensure it works correctly.

The S&G Z02 electronic lock is used on products manufactured before January 1, 2012. With the door open, the combination can be changed by following 3 steps:
  1. Enter 74* and the current password or default password (123456) followed by the # sign.
    You will hear 5 beeps.
  2. Press 1*
  3. Enter the new password followed by the # sign.
    You will hear 3 beeps. Passwords must be 6 characters long.
  4. Enter the new password again followed by the # sign.
    You will hear 3 beeps.
The new code should be tested at least 3 times with the door open to ensure it works correctly.
My electronic lock only opens 1 time out of several attempts.
This is usually caused by the position of the handle or a weak battery. Insure the handle is completely in the locked position or replace the battery with a 9v Duracell Alkaline battery.
My lock emits 2 long beeps after I enter my code.
The lock has entered the time out mode. Wait for 15 minutes and enter the code again.
How do I open my mechanical (dial) lock?
The traditional mechanical or dial lock has a 3 number combination. To open the lock, turn the dial to the LEFT stopping on the first number in the combination the FOURTH time around. Turn the dial to the RIGHT stopping on the second number the THIRD time. Turn the dial LEFT stopping on the third number the SECOND time around. Turn the dial slowly to the RIGHT until the bolt retracts. The dial will stop at 95.
Can I change the combination on my mechanical (dial) lock?
The lock manufacturer requires that the combination be changed by a certified (ALOA or SAFTA) locksmith. A fax or email from the locksmith is required with the new combination for the warranty to be valid. Changing the combination yourself will void the warranty.
I lost the combination or code to open my Browning ProSteel Gun Safe.
In order to maintain security, you must provide the safe serial number, proof of ownership of the Browning ProSteel Gun Safe and complete a Master Reset Code (MRC) request.
