The lock and handle has a battery tray on the interior handle. Remove the 4 bolts holding the protective bracket. On the back of the handle, slide down the tab (marked with an arrow) and remove the cover. Replace all 4 batteries with AA Duracell Alkaline batteries. Make sure to follow the positive and negative markings. Replace the battery cover and the protective bracket. Test the lock. |

How do I open my mechanical (dial) lock? | The traditional mechanical or dial lock has a 3 number combination. To open the lock, turn the dial to the LEFT stopping on the first number in the combination the FOURTH time around. Turn the dial to the RIGHT stopping on the second number the THIRD time. Turn the dial LEFT stopping on the third number the SECOND time around. Turn the dial slowly to the RIGHT until the bolt retracts. The dial will stop at 95. |
Can I change the combination on my mechanical (dial) lock? | The lock manufacturer requires that the combination be changed by a certified (ALOA or SAFTA) locksmith. A fax or email from the locksmith is required with the new combination for the warranty to be valid. Changing the combination yourself will void the warranty. |
