This is entirely new to me, I've had no problem like this before.
I loaded up my PS4 yesterday to download the update (It was live and some of my friends had already installed it) and I got a notification from the events calendar telling me about the event. Good, so I'll check the update status. Another game was updating so I went to the downloads section but the overwatch update wasn't there.
Throughout the last 24 hours, I've let my other games update, but Overwatch has yet to appear.
Anyone have any idea on this?
Thanks

This was my problem, once I deleted some stuff I haven't touched in over a year, I was able to select check for updates and download the update.
